AndaSeat Eagle 2 Gaming Desk review: Costly but beautiful RGB ambiance

For many video game enthusiasts, having the perfect gaming desk setup is the ultimate goal. The best computer desks offer plenty of tabletop space, give you ways to manage cables, and can handle a decent amount of weight. RGB LED lighting can also help give them an extra amount of flare to either match the look of your computer tower or add to the ambiance of your room.

I've recently had the chance to test the AndaSeat Eagle 2 Gaming Deks. This company is known for making some of the best gaming chairs, so I jumped at the chance of checking out the company's other products. The Eagle 2 looks great, helps hide cables away, and can hold plenty of devices on your desk for that perfect gaming computer setup. However, the desk is a bit too pricey compared to similar RGB desks of the same shape and weight capacity.

AndaSeat Eagle 2 Gaming Desk review: Price and availability

The Eagle 2 Gaming Desk has an MSRP of $399.99 and comes in two colors: Black or Lightning. It features two headphone mounts on either side of the desk, a basket for tidying up cables, a cup holder, and has RGB LED lights going up either leg. It's rather pricey compared with other RGB gaming desks of the same size, but it might go on sale at some point on Amazon or AndaSeat's official website.

AndaSeat states that this computer desk can hold 330 lbs. There are two metal poles running down the length of the desk with a perpendicular piece of metal in the center holding the two bars to the tabletop. The desk felt plenty sturdy and easily handled the weight of my computer tower, 27-inch monitor, and gaming laptop. There's ample space to hold up to two screens at once. Of course, the desk's sturdiness will partially depend on how well you screw the various parts together.

Speaking of which, when assembling the desk, I learned there are 20 screws used to connect the tabletop to the frame. The kit comes with a screwdriver with the intention that you thread these 20 screws by hand. However, this proved to be rather frustrating for my cramping hand and me. I finished the task easily once I pulled out a power drill. I highly recommend using a power tool as this also helped keep the frame firmly in place compared to my flimsy hand-driven attempts.

The RGB LEDs can either filter through four main colors (red, green, blue, and purple), or you can tap one of the four lines on either side of the power button to have it permanently stay on one color. As far as aesthetics go, I also love the carbon fiber pattern on the tabletop. It gives the desk a lovely look, so you can choose whether or not to use the included desk-length table mat. This cover's orange and black design looks nice and also happened to match my AndaSeat Fnatic gaming chair perfectly.

To that point, the table mat perfectly lined up with the shape of the desk and even had holes for the two cable grommets on either side. However, since the covering had been rolled up for so long, it is not currently a smooth surface. Though, that could change given enough time. As far as table shape goes, I like the indented area in the front of the desk as this allows me to tuck my chair in further to bring me closer to my screen when I'm sitting. This also lessens the space around the desk that the chair takes up when I'm not sitting in it.

The included cable management box screws into the bottom of the tabletop in the back. It's intended to help keep things tidy by keeping unsightly cables tucked away. As long as you only have a small number of plugs leading to your desk, it should keep things looking neat. I also appreciate that there are two headphone hooks, one on either end of the desk. This allows my gear to hang without damaging any cables or getting in my way.

I didn't personally see the need to attach the included cup holder as I don't link to have drinks near my computer. However, the plastic feels very sturdy, and there are drill holes on either side of the desk's bottom side, allowing the cup holder to work with both right and left-handed folks.

To be frank, this desk is overpriced. It can hold a decent amount of weight, and the RGB LED lighting is fun, but you can easily find another desk of the same basic shape, size, and weight capacity for much cheaper. Still, it is a very sturdy desk and looks great, so at least you wouldn't be disappointed with the functionality.

As with most gaming desks, this one required some assembly upon delivery. While there are illustrated instructions to follow, there is no written text to accompany them. This required me to notice small details in the imagery to get things done right. As such, it took me over two hours to put everything together due to needing to unscrew and redo some things at various points. Getting the cable that powers the RGB LEDs to fish through the specified metal pole, for instance, proved to take much longer than I had initially planned, and then realizing that I had installed the pole facing the wrong direction also caused some setbacks.

AndaSeat Eagle 2 Gaming Desk review: Competition

If you don't like sitting for long periods, you can give yourself a break with one of the best standing desks. The Flexispot Electric Height Adjustable Standing Desk is excellent as it's easy to assemble and can adjust between 28 inches and 48 inches. It adjusts at one inch per second so that you won't be waiting long.

For those who want something simple and inexpensive, the SHW Triangle-Leg Home Office Computer Desk sells on Amazon for roughly $89, the tabletop is 48 inches long, and it comes in two colors. It's the perfect kids desk as well as the perfect desk for adults.

Finally, if you're looking to put your desk in the corner of a room, you should check out the SHW L-Shaped Home Office Corner Desk. Last I checked, it was selling for about $75 on Amazon and comes in three colors. Altogether it offers 51 inches of usable space plus a couple of shelves.

AndaSeat Eagle 2 Gaming Desk review: Should you buy it?

• You want a desk that matches your AndaSeat gaming chair
• You want to keep your cables tidy

• You're on a tight budget
• You don't want RGB lights
• You want something bigger or smaller

I really like the look and weight capacity of this gaming desk. The RGB LEDs come through with plenty of vibrance, and the shape of both the legs and the tabletop gives it a cool feel. At a max of 330 lbs, this desk will be able to handle plenty of weight for anything from a computer tower to a couple of monitors.

However, I do think that it is quite a bit more costly than it should be. There are hundreds of other RGB computer desks of the same length and weight capacity out there that sell for much less.
