Tom Nook
Tom Nook is a Tanuki or Raccoon who's loaded with cash. You'll take out a loan from him to build your island home. He'll also provide several services on the island to help get you started.
Fans of the series have mixed feelings on this character. Some love him to death, while others think he's the devil. You'll have to decide yourself while playing New Horizons.
Timmy & Tommy
These adorable twins are either Tom Nook's children or his nephews (the games don't actually clarify, which is another shady thing about Tom Nook). They run around, helping Tom with his businesses. You'll interact with the two of them when you want to purchase or sell things at Resident Services and then again later when they run the Nook's Cranny store.
Isabelle
Isabelle is by far the most popular Animal Crossing character. She's a happy pup who's always eager to help you improve your island. Once you've played for a while, you'll work with her to make changes to your village and improve the lives of your residents.
K.K. Slider
This doggo is one cool dude who uses his guitar to distract from the fact that he's one of the only animals who doesn't wear clothes. Seriously though, I know he's a hippy, but put on some shorts!

After completing Project K for Tom Nook, K.K. Slider will appear every Saturday on your island. You'll be able to listen in on his concerts or make requests.
Blathers
Blathers plays the part of the museum director. You bring him bugs, fossils, fish, and other items, which he then displays in the museum. After you've been playing for a while and have had Redd the fox visit your island, you'll also be able to bring him works of art to display in the museum's art gallery.
Redd
Redd is a trickster who visits your island periodically to sell furniture and artwork. But be careful! Some of the artwork he sells are not only fakes but haunted works as well. You'll have to spot the differences between the real-world artwork and the fakes to tell them apart.
Celeste
This pink owl is Blathers' little sister. She randomly shows up on your island and gives you special recipes that require star fragments for crafting. She ran an observatory in past games, so it's possible that a future update could bring the same mechanics to New Horizons.
Wisp
This ghostly spirit shows up randomly on your island on some nights. He's a little jumpy and will scatter into five pieces that fly around your island. If you scoop them all up, Wisp will give you an item, wallpaper, or floor for your troubles.
Kicks
This adorable guy sells footwear, socks, and bags. He randomly sets up shop in front of Resident Services once you've gotten to a certain point in the game.
Since shoes, socks, and bags are something that you cannot craft from island materials, you'll definitely want to save up and purchase his goods so you can customize your character.
Harvey
This chill hippy is often seen with birds or butterflies flittering around him. In New Horizons, he has his own island where players can take part in Photopia. Players can decorate the various rooms in his house and then scan amiibo figures and amiibo cards to pull in their favorite villagers. You can even position the characters and make them display specific Reactions.
Mable
This precious little hedgehog is one of three sisters who run the Able Sisters clothing store. She helps with customer service and honestly makes you feel like a suspected shoplifter with how she follows you around the store. If you want to customize your character's clothing, you're going to want to save up and give your hard-earned Bells to Mable.
Sable
Unlike her blue sister, Sable is introverted and prefers working hard over gabbing. You'll usually see her busy behind her sewing machine at the Able Sisters shop creating new clothing pieces for you to purchase. If you are persistent and greet her regularly, you can eventually get her to unlock some special custom designs.
Label (a.k.a. Labelle)
Label is the most fashionable of the three Able sisters, that's because she's a fashion designer. After setting up the Able Sister's clothing store, Lable will randomly make visits to your island. She will request that you wear clothing that matches a specific style. If you do this, she'll reward you with Taylor Tickets, which can be used to purchase items at the Able Sister's store.
Mr. Resetti
This confrontational mole has been kind of a running joke for the series. In previous games, he chastised players if they didn't save their game before turning off their systems. This then lead to people intentionally resetting their games without saving just to see his angry responses.
Many people have speculated that Resetti is the operator in charge of the Rescue Service that players can access via the NookPhone. It certainly sounds like his voice, and the helicopter icon for the app does appear to have a rather mole-like nose.
Saharah
This well-traveled camel sells carpets, flooring, and wallpaper to players so they can spruce up their living spaces. You can even purchase from her when she's visiting a friend's island. In exchange for your purchases, she'll give you Tickets. When you have 5 Tickets, you can exchange them for a free item.
Gulliver
Although this image makes it looks like this pelican is taking a steamy shot for his Instagram account, Gulliver is just a chronic-castaway who repeatedly shows up on your island shore. If players help him locate the missing components from his cell phone, he'll send you a reward in the mail the following day.
C.J.
This little beaver is new to the Animal Crossing series. He can randomly appear on your island and will issue fishing challenges. If you complete his challenge, he'll offer to purchase any fish you've caught for 150% of the price that Nook's Cranny would give you. He's also in charge of hosting four Fishing Tourneys throughout the year, where players attempt to catch as many fish as possible to earn prizes.
Flick
This red lizard is also new to Animal Crossing and is a bug lover. Players can bring any captured bugs to him, and he'll give them 150% of the Bells that you'd get from Nook's Cranny. If players give him three of the same bug, he'll create a work of art specifically for that bug type. He's also in charge of hosting the Bug-Off tournament, where players will compete in a bug-catching competition.
Daisy Mae
Like Flick and C.J., Daisy Mae is new to Animal Crossing and seems to be taking the place of a known character. Although, she's much cuter than Joan, who was the boar that sold turnips in previous games. Daisy Mae only visits your island on Sundays, so if you want to purchase her goods, you'll need to keep an eye out for her. You can make a ton of money if you happen to buy turnips cheap and then sell them when the price is really high.
Lloid
Though he looks a bit like a brown Cactender from Final Fantasy, Lloid has held several different jobs in previous Animal Crossing games. He's run auctions, construction services, tool rental, a quarry, and even a garden. In New Horizons, he is in charge of collecting donations for bridges and inclines.
Orville
Orville is a dodo who's one of two brothers who run the airport in New Horizons. If you didn't catch the joke, he and his brother Wilbur are named after the Wright brothers who invented the airplane. You'll interact with him whenever you want to participate in local wireless or online multiplayer.
Wilbur
This dodo makes up for his inability to fly by piloting you around to other islands in his helicopter. If you didn't catch it before, he and his brother are named after the Wright brothers who created the airplane. Wilbur's a friendly guy who will be useful when you want to explore other islands nearby.
Reese
In New Leaf, Reese ran the Re-Tail store where players could sell materials and items for Bells. So far, all we know is that Reese will be returning in June for the Wedding Season event. Players will be able to pose her and take pictures with her at Harvey's island.
Cyrus
Cyrus is Reese's husband and ran a customization shop in New Leaf. As far as New Horizons goes, all we know is that he will be part of the Wedding Season festivities. Players will be able to decorate rooms in Harvey's house and then take romantic pictures with Reese and Cyrus.
Rover
Rover is a very friendly kitty who has been in various Animal Crossing games. In New Horizons, he took part in the May Day festivities and rewarded players with a briefcase when they made it through a maze. It's unclear whether or not he will be returning for other events in a future update.
Leif
Leif is a happy little sloth who sets up a small garden shop in front of Resident Services every once in a while. Players can purchase flowers and shrubs from him to beautify their islands.
Other characters
There are over 390 villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Most of them are normal residents. Still, if we learn that any of them do anything special on the island, we'll be sure to update this article.
Animal friends
That's all of the characters that we know of so far for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. More characters may be revealed with future updates. We'll keep on the lookout and will update this list with any official information we can get our hands on. Until then, you can peruse this list and figure out which of these characters you most want to have on your island paradise.
