Why the Fitbit Charge 3?
Fitbit has long been a leader in the world of fitness trackers and the Charge 3 is one of their latest wearables. The Charge 2 was very well received and the new Charge 3 builds off of all the great things about its predecessor while adding in some crucial functionality.
The Charge 2 was great about notifying you of incoming calls or text messages from your phone, but that was about all it could do in the way of notifications. With the Charge 3 however, Fitbit has included quite a bit of functionality with third-party apps so you'll be able to get quite a few more notifications on your wrist. It's not full-on smartwatch territory but it's pretty impressive for a fitness tracker.
The fitness features have also been improved to add goal based exercises with 15 different ones pre-loaded onto the device. Not only that but the band can now automatically detect when you've started a workout, when you've paused, and when you've stopped your workout, meaning there are fewer distractions for you during your workout. Oh yeah, there's also sleep tracking so kudos for that.
One of the biggest improvements is the waterproofing. The Charge 2 was listed as "splash resistant" while the Charge 3 is full on waterproof up to 50 meters. It's even designed to track your swim workout while you're in the pool which is a pretty welcome feature for the swimmers among us. Essentially, as long as you're not looking to take this thing scuba diving, you'll be alright. The only downside is that it's not rated for open water so make sure you stick to your local pools.
Third time's the charm.
The Fitbit Charge 3 is a marked improvement over its predecessor and is a pretty compelling entrant to the world of fitness trackers. If you're looking for something to track your workouts, this should definitely be on your list.
