Canadians may have to wait six weeks for the Jet Black iPhone 7
Canadians will have to wait between four and six weeks for the highly coveted (and beautiful) Jet Black iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.
According to carrier documents obtained by iMore, stock of all iPhone 7 devices will be minimal at launch, with a three- to four-week waiting period for the first "regular" colors — black, gold, silver, and rose gold — and with an additional wait of up to three weeks for the Jet Black model. While it's unclear whether the same waiting periods apply to all Canadian carriers, several have confirmed that stock will be extremely limited at launch and likely won't be available to purchase without a reservation until mid-to-late October.
Apple's own website, which is no longer accepting reservations for the phone, since it launches tomorrow, claims a lead time of two to three weeks for most models, with a shorter period on more expensive 256GB models. And, much like the wait time for carriers, the Jet Black iPhone 7 will ship within three to five weeks; the larger Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus will only just arrive in November.
This information reinforces comments sent to TechCrunch earlier today, saying that there will be limited walk-in availability of all iPhone 7 models on September 16 and no Jet Black units at all. That likely won't squelch the lineups, but it may put a damper on their participants' excitement.
