How to get infinite Heart Scales in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) are two of our favorite Nintendo Switch games right now. There are hundreds of Pokémon to train in the games and plenty of moves to master. If you had your Pokémon forget a move to learn a new one, you could have it remember the old move by speaking with the Move Tutor. This process requires Heart Scales, which are relatively rare items in the games. If you know where to look, you can get an infinite supply of them.
What are Heart Scales?
Heart Scales are an item in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that allows your Pokémon to relearn moves through the Move Reminder. This character can teach your Pokémon any move that it is able to learn through leveling up. That includes moves Pokémon "learn" at Level 1. This comes in handy as some Pokémon can only learn certain moves through the Move Reminder.
There are limitations of the Move Reminder. They cannot make a Pokémon relearn TMs or Egg Moves. The Move Reminder also cannot teach a Pokémon a move that is only available to previous evolutions.
How to find Heart Scales in the Grand Underground
Fortunately for those that plan to relearn several moves, you can get an infinite supply of Heart Scales. There are multiple ways to do this, but arguably the best way is in the Grand Underground. You can dig for Heart Scales anywhere in the Grand Underground. While searching for Heart Scales, you may also find statues, shards, and more. These other items will be required for catching certain legendary Pokémon in Ramanas Park.
We have a complete guide on the Grand Underground in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It breaks down how to get into the Grand Underground and how to dig for items, including Heart Scales.
How to get Heart Scales while fishing
If you prefer to relax and fish in order to get Heart Scales, that's also an option. If you fish in the waters just south of the Pokémon League with a Super Rod, you can encounter Luvdisc. This Pokémon has a chance of holding a Heart Scale. You can use Thief to steal the item or catch the Luvdisc.
In case you don't have the Super Rod, here's how to get it:

- Navigate to the Fight Area (must be in the postgame).
- Go to the entrance of Route 225 and speak with the fisherman.
You can now use the Super Rod to fish for Luvdisc. We recommend registering the item for quick access. This can be done through your bag in the settings menu.
Where to find the Move Reminder
Now that you have your Heart Scales, you can go to the Move Reminder have your Pokémon relearn moves.
Some moves can only be taught through the Move Reminder. For example, Roserade has a long list of attacks and status moves that can only be "relearned." If you evolved your Roselia early, it never actually had the chance to learn these moves, but the Move Reminder can help the Pokémon "remember" them.
The Move Reminder can be found in Pastoria City. They are in a house northeast of the Poké Mart.
After selecting a move to relearn, you'll hand the Move Reminder a Heart Scale in exchange.
