I love the elegance and attitude of stainless steel Apple Watch bands, but often find them to be too chunky or masculine for my tastes. The JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band is a solid stainless steel band that lends some gravity and formality to the Apple Watch while still feeling light and fun. It's dressy enough to take your Apple Watch Series 6 (or any Apple Watch) on more formal occasions and yet, it's also casual enough for every day.
You might even say that this is a feminine take on the Apple Link Bracelet. While it has a totally different look, it is also made of stainless steel and it has the same butterfly clasp. While this isn't a cheap band, it's quite a bit cheaper than Apple's Link Bracelet. It also comes in a variety of colors and finishes.
JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band: Price and availability
JUUK's Ovollo Apple Watch Band comes in five colorways: Polished (Silver), Brushed (Silver), Brushed/Polished (Silver), Polished Two-Tone Rose Gold (with Silver), and Polished Gunmetal. The price for the first three colors is $119; the other two are $139. The band only comes in the 38/40mm size. You can buy this band exclusively on JUUK's website.
JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band: What's good
Anytime I get a new Apple Watch band, especially a metal one with links, I'm always worried that it won't fit me. In fact, I've had to return some bands because they simply didn't adjust to fit my (fairly small) wrist at all. The JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band has a number of removable links so it can adjust from 5.08 inches/129 millimeters to 7.72 inches/196 millimeters. In fact, there are a couple of smaller links near the clasp, which gives you even more adjustability. I ended up removing three full-sized links (0.35 inches/9 millimeters each) and the two smaller ones (0.26 inches/6.5 millimeters each), which made it fit me perfectly.
Once I got it adjusted to my size, the band is quite comfortable to wear every day. Though it's not a "gym band," in my testing, I wore it for my exercise routines and even to the pool. It worked out great everywhere. The butterfly clasp is high-quality and quite secure. Note that the adapter has a button underneath that you must press in order to slide it onto the Apple Watch. The fit is perfect, there is no jiggling around.
Obviously, taste is subjective, but I love the look of this eye-catching band. It is narrower than most Apple Watch bands, at just 0.71 inches/18 millimeters wide. This offsets the "heavy" look that stainless steel bands often have. The rounded links further feminize the style. There is enough heft to the band to give it gravitas, and yet it never feels too heavy or annoying. The look works for both athleisure and formalwear.
JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band: What's not good
I was able to do the band adjustment myself, but it wasn't super easy. Of course, you can take it to a jeweler if you prefer. The band comes with a tiny flat-head screwdriver; the pins the hold the links in place have tiny grooves that the tool fits into. Once I got the hang of it, it went pretty quickly. I actually found it helpful to loosen each pin with the screwdriver and then push the pin from the bottom with a pin tool. I used the tool that came with the bracelet you see in some of my photos, however, a paper clip or SIM tool would probably work as well. Technically you can do it with just the screwdriver, it was just faster to push from the bottom too.
I did choose the polished stainless steel band, and it does get tiny scuffs over time. That's typical for stainless steel, in fact, my Apple Watch has plenty of scuffs. You could buff it out if you were so inclined.
This band only comes in the 38/40mm size. JUUK makes plenty of other cool bands (I'll be reviewing another one soon) that do come in the 42/44mm size, but not this one.
JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band: Competition
One of my favorite feminine watch bands is the Goldenerre Classic Link Bracelet for Apple Watch. I wear it a lot — it's comfortable and pretty. I often get compliments on it; people note that it looks like jewelry rather than a fitness band. You can remove links in order to adjust the size without any tools. For an even dressier look, check out the Goldenerre Crystal Pavé Link Band for Apple Watch. I wore that one to my daughter's wedding!
Fashionistas on a budget, check out the Wearlizer Rhinestone X-Link Apple Watch band. This one doesn't require any tools to adjust the size. Wearlizer sells a number of reasonably-priced, fun, feminine metal bands on Amazon, such as the Wearlizer Crystal Rhinestone Apple Watch Band and the Wearlizer Stainless Steel and Resin Apple Watch Band.
JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band: Should you buy it?
You should buy this if ...
- You're looking for a pretty, elegant Apple Watch band
- You want a high-quality stainless steel band with a butterfly clasp
- You like a slimmer band for your Apple Watch
You shouldn't buy this if...
- You don't want a band that can get scuffed
- You don't want to hassle with tools to adjust the size
- It's not in your budget
This is a fabulous band for anyone who is looking for an elegant, stylish, high-quality stainless steel band that is narrower than most. If it's not to your taste, too pricey for you, or you have the 42/44mm Apple Watch, this isn't for you. If you're concerned about minor scuffing or you don't want to deal with any tools to adjust the sizing, skip this band.
I realize the JUUK Ovollo Apple Watch Band won't be to everyone's taste, but I happen to love the look and style. The rounded links and slimmer band make it feminine and fun, while the stainless steel and solid hardware give it some gravitas. This band will level up your everyday style and fit in beautifully at more formal events. Removing some links let it fit me perfectly, though you will have to use the included tool to make those adjustments. I did experience minor scuffing over time, but that's not unusual for stainless steel jewelry.
Bottom line: This beautiful band elevates the everyday and fits in with formalwear.
