What you need to know

  • Mario Golf: Super Rush is getting new content via a free update.
  • The update includes a ranked mode, new character and new course.
  • Rising up through Ranked Match will net the player additional bonuses.

Nintendo has announced via a tweet that new content will be coming to Mario Golf: Super Rush for free via an update later today.

Featured among the new content is Toadette as a playable character, New Donk City from Super Mario Odyssey as a new course, and a new mode under the name Ranked Match. Players can compete against friends and other players online, starting from C- rank and moving up as they do better. A player's score, how much they participated and whether they defeated anyone ranking higher than them will contribute to the number of match points they earn, increasing their rank. Players are also ranked based on whether they use button controls or motion controls. Whether different play styles grant different rewards is not yet known.

Achieving higher ranks will reward the player with bonuses, such as being able to choose new skins or looks for certain characters in the game. Achieving A- rank, for example, will allow the player to choose Yoshi's color when selecting them as a character.

The free update and content will be available later today according to Nintendo, with new content and updates planned for the future. Mario Golf: Super Rush is one of the best Mario sports games currently available on the Nintendo Switch, so it's great to hear that new content will be coming to the game.
