Nintendo Indie World: Everything announced during the August 2021 showcase
The Nintendo Switch features an extensive catalog of great indie games. Ever so often, Nintendo likes to showcase some of the games that they think their audience will be interested in, all in an adorable presentation called the Indie World Showcase. Nintendo premiered the second Indie World Showcase taking place this year on August 11 at 12:00 p.m. ET, but fans of indie games certainly aren't complaining. The following games were listed during the August 2021 Indie World Showcase:
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a graffiti-action-adventure game developed by Team Reptile, where players are tasked with becoming the All City King by grinding, painting and building up wicked combos in an enormous metropolis. Players can expand their crews with multiple playable characters and traverse the stylized landscape using the trick system. Coming to Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive in 2022.
TOEM
In this adorable monochrome hand-drawn adventure, players use their camera alongside their photographic eye to fill out photo albums, help people in various regions, and take in charming scenery inspired by the Scandinavian countryside. Coming to Nintendo Switch in Fall of 2021.
Loop Hero
In this top-down RPG with card-based mechanics, players must strive to complete loops by acting as the environment and guiding the adventurers through it, rather than playing as the heroes themselves. Players can place buildings, enemies, and terrain along each expedition the hero embarks on. Completing more loops means expanding the game's features and gaining more cards to build your deck and break the cycle once and for all. Arriving on Nintendo Switch for Holiday 2021.
FAR: Changing Tides
In a post-apocalyptic world, this puzzle adventure sees players embark on a journey to find a new home. Players are tasked with captaining a seafaring vessel, exploring abandoned homes, and fending for themselves amidst mighty storms. This lonely world is incredibly touching and comes to Nintendo Switch early 2022.
Necrobarista: Final Pour
This stylized anime-style visual novel about coffee and death sees players look at how relationships between the living and the dead develop, explore the ethics of necromancy, and process the inevitability of letting go. Arriving on Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive later today.

Garden Story
In this endearing top-down pixelated adventure, players must help villagers and solve puzzles to restore their tiny garden community and become the mighty Guardian of the Grove. Arriving on Nintendo Switch as a time console exclusive later today.
Boyfriend Dungeon
This bizarre mix of dungeon-crawler and dating simulator tasks players with getting to know their weapons and date them as they defeat monsters. Forge both steel and relationships, growing better at slaying as your relationships grow. Available on Nintendo Switch today.
Axiom Verge 2
Coming to Nintendo Switch today, Axiom Verge 2 is the prequel to the first Axiom Verge, letting you explore a world just as eerie and harrowing as the first Metroidvania title, showcasing the origins of the Axiom Verge universe. The game follows a new hero as she slowly becomes consumed by the very thing that she's trying to fight.
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon
From Yacht Club Games, the popular studio behind the award-winning Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, this puzzle adventure game follows Puzzle Knight as he works alongside the quirky Shovel Knight cast to escape the threatening Pocket Dungeon in a dungeon-crawler and match-three hybrid. Using amiibo from the Shovel Knight series will even grant Nintendo Switch players some exclusive perks! Coming to Nintendo Switch this holiday.
ISLANDERS: Console Edition
Build your dream island in this procedurally-generated city— err, island building strategy game. Featuring a calming, minimalist style, create as many worlds as you'd like by placing buildings and other items from your ever-growing inventory. Coming to Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive later today.
Metal Slug Tactics
In this fresh take on the Metal Slug franchise, players can dive into the detailed world with characters like Marco and Tarma, Fio and Eri in fast-paced, dynamic battles that incorporate tactics and strategy. Position your troops correctly on the battlefield if you want to turn the tides of battle! Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022.
Tetris Effect: Connected
An emotional journey unlike any other Tetris game, players will work to clear lines in a classic fashion, while feeling all the emotions evoked by intense background graphics. The Connected edition of the game features cross-platform multiplayer, as well as the competitive Zone Battle mode, available through local play or online play. Arriving on Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021.
Eastward
Developed by Pixpil and published by Chucklefish, this beautiful post-apocolyptic world provides an action-adventure RPG with puzzle and dungeon mechanics. Embark on a journey to discover the truth about a society on the cusp of its downfall, exploring towns and forests all rendered in gorgeous pixel art. The game comes to Nintendo Switch as a timed exclusive on September 16, 2021. Pre-orders begin on the Nintendo eShop later today.
