The upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be thicker than its predecessor
What you need to know
- The upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro will reportedly be thicker than the current generation.
- The new iPad will apparently be 0.5mm thicker to accommodate the mini-LED display.
The upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro might add some thickness in order to handle that mini-LED display.
As reported by MacRumors, the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be 0.5mm thicker than the current generation. This change in thickness is apparently due to the inclusion of a mini-LED display, a first for any Apple device. The outlet got its hands on photos from a "source that designs accessories for Apple devices."
In addition to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro increasing in overall thickness, it may also grow its camera bump. That's in stark comparison to the new 11-inch iPad Pro, which is expected to stay the same size and potentially shrink its camera bump. This could be due to the rumor that the mini-LED display will be reserved for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
The new iPad Pros are expected to be unveiled at tomorrow's 'Spring loaded' Apple Event. In addition to new iPads, Apple is also rumored to announce its long-rumored AirTags, new Apple silicon iMacs, and even Apple Podcasts+.
