It can happen to the best of us. We live in a world where there is a multitude of ways in which an account can be compromised. No matter how it happened, you are certainly going to want to get your account back under your control so you can access all the things you love about your Nintendo Switch.
Here's what to do if this ever happens to you.
Change that password!
If someone else has gotten access to your account, the first thing you are going to want to do is to change your password. You can head over to the Nintendo account website and change your password here. Make sure you know your current password before you change it. You'll need it to log into your account on Nintendo's site.
Check your transactions
If someone gained access to your Nintendo account, you might want to make sure that there have been no purchases that you did not make yourself. You can check your transactions through your bank's or credit card's website or you can call them directly.
Contact Nintendo directly
If you have been locked out of your account for one reason or another, you are going to want to contact Nintendo Support directly. For the most part, Nintendo support can be incredibly helpful. Call them and explain to them exactly what lead to your account being compromised. Hopefully, they will be able to help you out. The Nintendo support number for inside the US is 1-800-255-3700
Keeping your account safe
If you have not had your account compromised but you would like to try and avoid that possibility, there are some steps you can take to keep your account secure. One of the most effective ways of keeping just about any account safe is with two-factor authentication. Fortunately for Nintendo account holders, that can be done. If you want to set that up, check out our guide on how to do it.
Hopefully, if your account was compromised you are able to get the issue all cleared up in a quick and effective manner.
